Having read several novels by Beverly Lewis I was not surprised when this one turned out to be excellent. This novel follows the characters of Tilly and Ruthie, two sisters who have chosen to leave the Amish church. The sisters find themselves back in their childhood home for their parents anniversary. The main characters as well as the supporting characters are all very deep and are fleshed out nicely throughout the course of this book. You will really feel like you know them by the time you reach the end. It is a book that you will want to keep reading and not put down. Any lover of Beverly Lewis’s previous works or anyone who enjoys Amish or faith based fiction will want to pick up a copy of The River.

I received a free copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.
