This novel is the second in the Home to Amana series but it can be easily read even if you haven’t read the first. The main character, Jancey Rhoder, moves with her parents to the Amana colonies in Iowa against her boyfriend’s wishes.  The main reason she decides to go with her family is because her mother is suffering from an illness that will probably take her life.

At the Amana colonies Jancey is tasked with cleaning a building that houses men. The novel is written in first person so we the reader get to learn a lot about what is going through Jancey’s head as she starts a new life in the Amana colonies.  All in all this is a pleasant read that I would certainly recommend.

I was provided a copy of the book from the Publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.
