This is most certainly one of those books that is impossible to put down. It is divided into three sections and the suspense and tension continues to build throughout the first section. The main character is Abigail Durham, the owner of a local hair salon in the town of Rawston.  In the  beginning of the novel she meets Justin, a contractor who is new to town. They have no idea how close they will grow with the events that will come next.

The reader knows that a tornado is coming based on the radio news broadcasts that are written into the novel periodically but the characters have no idea.  Near the middle of the novel the tornado hits and its devastation is great. The author does an excellent job of describing the aftermath of the tornado. It felt as if I was really there seeing the things the characters were seeing.  I kept turning the page waiting to see which characters had survived and which had perished in the storm.

Soon after the storm Abigail starts collecting scraps of cloth found in the rubble. These strips of cloth are eventually put into a quilt to honor one character who didn’t make it though the tornado.

It is a great read, wonderfully written, with wonderful well thought out characters. The only down fall was that it was too short and it only focused on the time immediately before and after the tornado. I would have loved to follow these characters a bit further. Because of the length some characters story lines felt a bit rushed. Overall I would give this novel a 4 out of 5 stars.
